This update features some changes to make navigating between different data sources in the system easier, as well as an integration in the location elements of the incidents module with what3words.
Dynamic Reporting
Something we had wanted to do for a long time, and something we know that a lot of you were keen to see, was to make the reporting module more dynamic and allow easier navigation from your reports to the items they contain, allowing you to update those items as you read through reports. This major update to the reporting module has made the title of any task, risk, issue, action step, incident or readiness item clickable.
So, anywhere you now see a task (or other item, all listed below) in a report, you can click on its title and the details page for that task will open in a new browser tab. From here you can carry out any needed updates, add comments, etc. and move back to the tab showing your report to carry on reading through the report.
The items for which this change applies are:
Tasks and Sub-Tasks
Risks, Issues and their Action Steps
Incidents
Readiness Capabilities
Readiness Activities
what3words Integration
what3words provides a way of describing location when other ways are not possible, such as when you are in a large crowd in an open space, with no obvious landmarks. The what3words team have mapped the whole planet into 3m x 3m squares, with each square given a unique address in the format ///pies.area.slate (the address of the WeTrack office in London).
WeTrack's integration with what3words allows users of the Incidents module a precision around the logging of incident location that was not possible previously. When reports of an incident come in to control, if the report includes a what3words address (the system is increasingly used by Blue Lights teams around the world), then the person logging the incident can just search for that 3 word address and pinpoint where exactly the incident is happening.
Equally, someone on the ground who is sent to deal with an incident can easily find the precise location when given the 3 word address by Control, even if this is location is in a large open space (such as a field at a music festival).
Other Updates and Changes
There have also been lots of other tweaks and improvements to the system to make using WeTrack easier and quicker before, including:
Fixes and improvements to the extra row in reporting, especially around RAG updates, to save space and make reports tidier.
Fixes to the Gantt chart around accessing it from a project details page, as well as making sure what is displayed properly matches your permissions.
Improvements to the user profile page around sending invites, immediate updates to the user list, etc.
Fixes around switching tasks between different projects and also to imports.
...and much more.
