WeTrack has full Dependency control which can be switched on or off in System Administration. Dependencies are when one Task relies in some way on another Task - upstream or downstream.

You can add Dependencies through the Dependencies tab of any Task Details page or through the Gantt Chart view.

Tasks with Dependencies have the 'Link' icon in their row to the right of the toolbar list, with the number in the orange bubble representing the number of Dependencies. This particularly makes you aware of cross-Project Dependencies.

The Gantt Chart view is recommended for the easiest visual editing of Dependencies, although this makes it more difficult to add Dependencies between Tasks in different projects. You must be assigned "Gantt Editor" role to make changes to Dependencies through the Gantt Chart.

Owners of dependent Tasks will be notified of any changes to "upstream" Tasks (those they depend on). In the Notification Centre, you can choose how often to be updated on any changes involving Dependencies.

NOTE: If you change both the start and due date of a task and it has a downstream Dependency, the dates of the downstream task will be changed by the same number of days. This will only happen to the next task in the Dependency flow.

To add Dependencies on the Gantt Chart

Choose the Task for which you wish to add a Dependency and hover over it. A bubble will appear at each end. Click and Drag to the Task which is Dependent on the first task. This will update the information in the Task form and changes will be logged in the audit history.

Further manipulate data by dragging Tasks to change/extend Dates.

Tracking Dependencies

This is done using Task Dependency Trees. Read about these here
